Heartland Llama show - A huge success -- Posted by on Wednesday, April 30 2008
Well, the first show of the season is "under the belt" for Hid-N Hills Llamas. We took 7 llamas down to show - trailer was full to capacity. The temps were cold at best and the wind was relentless. Animals did well and were ready to strut their stuff.

Stated the event with the non-breeder halter class for us. Masai did well and took a first in his class. He also came back Grand Champion Non-Breeder. Way to go Masai.

Then the suri classes. Dreamin' Big was entered as 2 year old suri male - just 3 weeks into that class in age. He took a first and was Grand Champion Suri Male. Congratulations Dreamin' Big.

Then the Suri females were up. We entered Powerful Temptations and Earth Angel's Evangeline. Temptations was 2nd in class and Earth Angel was 3rd in class. Temptations was Reserve Grand Champion. A big hug for Temptations.

Medium wool females was Shuddup and Kiss Me. Probably one of the largest animals shown all day. She did herself proud with a 1st place and a Reserve Grand Champion ribbon.

Then we had a couple of heavy wool entries.

Our young male - Kaya - was entered in the heavy wool yearling catagory. Kaya came in 2nd in class and did very well for his first time out.

Our yearling female entry - Giehsa Girl did very well, coming in 3rd in a large class. Again, her first time off the farm, in a trailer and being show.

Our last class of the day was Get of Sire. There were 6 entries in that class. We had a get for Hermes - composed of Shuddup and Kiss Me, Masai and Giesha Girl. Our group took a second. No complaints from us.

So, we came home with 3 first places, 3 seconds, 2 thirds, 2 Grand Champions and 2 Reserve Grand Champions.

Bottom line - we qualified 4 animals for Grand Nationals in one show. Can't beat that. Look for pictures to be posted shortly (not back from the show photographer yet).

Spring is here!!!!!! -- Posted by on Sunday, April 20 2008
The grass is green, the llamas are ready for the long and cold winter to end. They are in serious need of shearing and soon will be sporting the "nude" look for the summer. Now is the time to come and pick out that special llama that will make your herd take the next step into the show ring or fiber producing arena. Give us a call, come over and see what we have spent 25 years perfecting. We welcome your visit.

Sale animals -- Posted by on Monday, March 24 2008
As spring is the time of renewal, spring is also the time to make those decisions for additions to your herd. We are not all fortunae enough in this time of high travel prices, to be able to go to the major sales around the country. Why not cut your costs and do your shopping right at Hid-N Hills Llamas. We have several nice offerings for bred females, young females not yet bred or ready to breed, there are still several nice young males that would be terrific 4-H animals or guard llamas. They are not old enough to geld, but are fast approaching that age.

We offer breeding services with our line of studs. Don't forget to check out our herd sires.

So, plan on a trip to Hid-N Hills Llamas and see what we have to offer.

Need training on llamas, check our our "Hands on" page on our website. Something you can't afford to pass up.

Tamango -- Posted by on Thursday, February 28 2008
Along with adding new genetics to the Hid-N Hills line.... we sadly had to say goodbye to Tamango. Tamango has a new home right now at the Ken and Karen Dean farm in Warrens, Wisconsin. Tamango is also no longer breeding. He has reach the age with "uncle art" (arthritis) has set in and he is no longer able to service the ladies. We know that he will have a good home until his time is up. We regret that he can no longer produce those wonderful appy babies that he was so good at. Tamango will always have a place in our hearts and memories.

New sires -- Posted by on Thursday, February 28 2008
Hid-N Hills Llamas has sold a one-half interest in one of their top studs. JJ-HH's Centennial is now co-owned with Ken and Karen Dean of Warrens, Wisconsin. He is currently standing stud at the Dean farm. Centennial will be back at Hid-N Hills this spring to continue his history of producing award winning crias with a personality that is tops.

Hid-N Hills has also added a new star to the breeding line. Hardrock's Dreamin' Big will be added to the breeding male line this spring. Dreamin' is a solid white suri male with a blood line that will compliment the Jensen's dam line. Dreamin' is out of Peruvian Kalifornia Dreamin x Celeni. There is suri fiber from the sires genetics and size and bone from the dam's side. Dreamin' has the potential to add suri, size, bone, personality, and a winning style to his crias. We have great hopes in this young man. His first ladies are waiting for spring to come calling.
